The many drawings over the years of fanciful, gaudy, svelte or exotic showgirls by Harvey would easily comprise an entire book of a couple of hundred pages! Rare creatures indeed, some of these ladies are included here to show the rich and varied imagination of American musical costume designers, as well as Harvey’s creativity and imagination. Think about it: a handsome man stands at the side of the stage, singing “Here they come…out of our dreams…” and a long line of Harvey’s showgirls glides slowly down the gigantic white staircase…
